Our Retreat House

Our stunning retreat property is perched on a hillside overlooking the historic wool town of Painswick. The house and garden have been recently renovated to a very high standard, creating a unique and peaceful atmosphere.

The Retreat House, a large detached property, is located on a quiet rural road a mile away from the heart of the village of Painswick. The property has been designed to maximise the beautiful views across the valley.

All of the rooms are well proportioned, and the elevated position provides spectacular rural views, particularly from the first floor. The house has character features, including wood panelling and a lovely open fire, which are complemented by modern facilities, including wireless internet access and a well-presented kitchen.

The Retreat House sleeps up to seven people in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms and a cloakroom on the first floor. There is a beautiful terraced garden at the rear of the house, as well as a private patio area accessed from the living room, both of which have beautiful views. At the rear of the property are ancient beech woodlands, which provide a lovely backdrop and a haven for birds and wildlife.

French doors from the treatment room open directly out onto the back garden. Next to the house is a large paved patio area, with a table and seating. In fair weather, this area is perfect for gentle outdoor activities such as Chi Kung or Meditation. Steps lead up the tiered garden, which includes a decked area that forms a lovely suntrap and from which the evening sunset can be enjoyed. There are lovely views across Painswick Valley from the top tier of the garden.

To the front, the driveway has parking space for the Guests' cars.

Accessibility

The property is laid out over two floors, with the living space and one bedroom on the first floor, to capture the beautiful views, and with three of the bedrooms on the ground floor. Guests with limited mobility should note that the property may not be suitable for them, due to a spiral staircase that connects the two floors and the terraced levels to access to the property.
